Oud Khôl by Guerlain is an exercise in depth, shadow, and raw intensity. Inspired by the visual force of kohl and the idea of absolute black, this fragrance presents oud at its most mineral, leathery, and uncompromising. From the opening, a flash of aldehydes slices through with a cool, almost metallic glare, briefly lifted by neroli and geranium. This brightness is short-lived, serving only to heighten the plunge into darkness that follows.

At the heart, oud wood asserts itself with authority, paired with a smoky leather accord that feels dry, charcoal-like, and deeply saturated rather than animalic. The effect is dense and immersive, conjuring burned incense, scorched wood, and blackened resin. As the fragrance develops, a moss accord introduces an earthy, ashen bitterness, while musk amplifies the depth rather than softening it. The unexpected note of caramelised praline does not sweeten the composition, instead adding a dark, molten warmth that thickens the scent and intensifies its presence.

Thierry Wasser

Thierry Wasser is a legendary perfumer who has been creating fragrances for over 30 years. He was born in Switzerland in 1961 and grew up in a family that was involved in the perfume industry. His father was a chemist who worked for Givaudan, one of the world's leading fragrance houses.

Wasser began his career in perfumery as an apprentice at Charabot, a French fragrance company. He then went on to work for Firmenich, another major player in the industry. In 2008, he was appointed as the in-house perfumer for Guerlain, a prestigious French perfume house with a rich history dating back to 1828.

Since joining Guerlain, Wasser has created many iconic fragrances, including La Petite Robe Noire, Shalimar Parfum Initial, and Aqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic. He is known for his ability to blend natural and synthetic ingredients in unique and unexpected ways, resulting in fragrances that are both timeless and contemporary.

Return and Cancellation:

Cancellations Before Fulfilment:

• Orders can be cancelled before they have been fulfilled or dispatched.
• Once an order has been fulfilled or dispatched, it can no longer be cancelled, but customers may submit a return or withdrawal request where eligible.

Returns and Withdrawal:

• Customers may request a return within 14 days of receiving their order, or within 14 days of receiving the last item in the order where items are delivered separately.
• To be eligible for return, perfume samples must be unopened, unused, in original condition, and with all packaging intact.
• Opened, used, sprayed, tampered-with, or unsealed perfume samples cannot be returned, unless the item is faulty, damaged, or incorrect.
• Fragrance preferences are personal and subjective, so we cannot accept returns or exchanges simply because a customer does not like a scent, or because it smells different from previous experiences.

Damaged, Faulty, Incorrect or Missing Items:

• If your item arrives damaged, faulty, incorrect, or missing, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 24 hours of delivery, with photos and details of the issue.
