Kajal IV by Kajal opens with a warm, spirited mix of rum, cardamom, blackcurrant and davana, setting up a leathery fragrance that feels rich without becoming heavy. Created by Kevin Mathys and launched in 2023, it balances sweetness, spice and polished woods with a confident unisex character.

As the opening settles, jasmine and palm flower soften the composition while leather moves into focus, smooth but still substantial. In the base, Kholas dates bring a deep fruity sweetness, joined by vanilla, musk and woody notes that give the drydown warmth and depth without tipping into syrupy territory.

What makes Kajal IV stand out is the contrast: boozy and spicy at first, floral and leathery through the heart, then sweeter and more comforting as the dates and vanilla emerge. It also performs very well, with above-average longevity and a noticeable trail.

Kevin Mathys

Kévin grew up in the countryside in France, always passionate about the world of scents, he played by mixing cologne together in his childhood, this lead him naturally to the perfumery path. For him, perfume is an emotional trigger allowing him to be a part of peoples lives, by them wearing his creations. Inspired by fragrance and more simply why some perfumes can attract more then others, Kévin was fascinated by their constructions, always having a lot of questions to ask perfumers. Knowing that fragrance was the industry for him, Kévin began by training himself online on raw materials, after studying in Montpellier he was hired as a trainee perfumer at Bell F&F in Leipzig under the mentor Sebastian Reuter – now a CPL perfumer. Kévin has since started working at CPL Aromas in the Dubai division as a perfumer and is a great asset to the team.

Talking about the journey of a fragrance Kévin remarked “The beginning is the most exciting part of the process, I usually have tons of idea and must choose between all of those. But the most enjoyable is to find your perfume on the market shelves, this is probably the best reward of all.”

Outside of perfumery Kévin has interests in sketching, nature, swimming, hiking and it influences the fragrance creations he makes, they help to nurture the process and creativity. Kévin particularly enjoys working with leather, woods and amber. “A great masculine scent but works wonders in feminine fragrances as well.”

Return and Cancellation:

Cancellations Before Fulfilment:

• Orders can be cancelled before they have been fulfilled or dispatched.
• Once an order has been fulfilled or dispatched, it can no longer be cancelled, but customers may submit a return or withdrawal request where eligible.

Returns and Withdrawal:

• Customers may request a return within 14 days of receiving their order, or within 14 days of receiving the last item in the order where items are delivered separately.
• To be eligible for return, perfume samples must be unopened, unused, in original condition, and with all packaging intact.
• Opened, used, sprayed, tampered-with, or unsealed perfume samples cannot be returned, unless the item is faulty, damaged, or incorrect.
• Fragrance preferences are personal and subjective, so we cannot accept returns or exchanges simply because a customer does not like a scent, or because it smells different from previous experiences.

Damaged, Faulty, Incorrect or Missing Items:

• If your item arrives damaged, faulty, incorrect, or missing, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 24 hours of delivery, with photos and details of the issue.
• All return requests are reviewed before approval. Please do not send anything back before receiving return instructions from us.
