Orto Parisi Cuoium

Cuoium by Orto Parisi feels like leather before it has been polished into something polite. Created by Alessandro Gualtieri and released in 2021, this unisex Parfum opens with animalic, woody facets that feel dark, oily and almost industrial.

Violet appears through the centre like a cool flash against all that weight, bringing a faintly powdery, almost fruity softness without cleaning up the composition. Then the leather takes full control. Cade oil, incense, cedar, labdanum and patchouli build a smoky, resinous base with hints of charred wood, tar and warm amber, while vanilla rounds the edges without making Cuoium conventionally sweet.

This is leather in a rawer form: dense, smoky, slightly feral and deliberately uncompromising. Its performance matches the character, with exceptional longevity and a strong trail that can linger for hours, so a light hand goes a long way.

Alessandro Gualtieri

Alessandro Gualtieri is an Italian perfumer who is known for his avant-garde approach to creating fragrances. He learned perfumery through a combination of formal studies in Germany and outside lessons from an Italian ex-pat he met at a bar. He built his reputation by working with major fashion brands such as Fendi, Versace, Helmut Lang, and Diesel before founding his own perfume line, Nasomatto, in Amsterdam.

What sets Gualtieri apart from other perfumers is his refusal to publish ingredient lists for his fragrances. Instead, he chooses to describe the inspiration behind each scent, allowing the line to first communicate each scent's creative essence and leaving the actual notes for the wearer to contemplate over time.

Some of Gualtieri's notable fragrances include Duro, which is his interpretation of masculinity and aims to enhance all the manifestations of strength. Another popular fragrance is Black Afgano, which is inspired by the scent of hashish and is known for its smoky, earthy aroma.

Cancellations Before Fulfilment:

• Orders can be cancelled before they have been fulfilled or dispatched.
• Once an order has been fulfilled or dispatched, it can no longer be cancelled, but customers may submit a return or withdrawal request where eligible.

Returns and Withdrawal:

• Customers may request a return within 14 days of receiving their order, or within 14 days of receiving the last item in the order where items are delivered separately.
• To be eligible for return, perfume samples must be unopened, unused, in original condition, and with all packaging intact.
• Opened, used, sprayed, tampered-with, or unsealed perfume samples cannot be returned, unless the item is faulty, damaged, or incorrect.
• Fragrance preferences are personal and subjective, so we cannot accept returns or exchanges simply because a customer does not like a scent, or because it smells different from previous experiences.

Damaged, Faulty, Incorrect or Missing Items:

• If your item arrives damaged, faulty, incorrect, or missing, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 24 hours of delivery, with photos and details of the issue.
• All return requests are reviewed before approval. Please do not send anything back before receiving return instructions from us.
